Polina Y, NYC based DJ recently relocated to Berlin, have DJd all over the world for over 10 years. Driving force in the current independent dark music culture she has put on numerous shows, started zines and magazines, and organizes the Drop Dead and Mutant Transmissions Festivals. Polina is a a strong believer in music as an art form and a way to move multidisciplinary artists forward by being a perfect emotional catalyst. Although she is one of the most in demand DJs for the post punk, electro punk and synth music her favorite sets are mutant wave. She loves to do on the dance floor what her Drop Dead Festival is famous for, brining together different underground movements in one set in a completely unexpected and forward looking way and mixing completely obscure old bands with not even on the market new independent releases.
DROP DEAD FESTIVAL premier festival for dark underground music celebrates its 10th year in Berlin, Germany October 31- Nov 4. Some of the bands confirmed include legendary Kas Product, UK Decay, Dandi Wind and In Trance 95 and well as numerous appearances from amazing bands from all over the would you can only see together at the Drop Dead Festival. In addition to 50 or so bands, festival also includes dance parties, art and video installations, independent designer and music vending market and much more.

To ντουέτο των Alex Μαχαίρα και Νίκου Βελιώτη σχηματίστηκε τον Μάιο του 1988 και εξαρχής διαμόρφωσε τον προσωπικό ήχο του χρησιμοποιώντας φορητά αναλογικά synthesizers και drum machines. Ισορροπώντας ανάμεσα σε κλασικές synth pop φόρμες και minimal πειραματισμούς, τον Δεκέμβριο του 1988 κυκλοφόρησε το πρώτο τους single “Desire To Desire / Brazilia” το οποίο με την πάροδο του χρόνου έγινε κλασικό του είδους και τους έβγαλε έξω απο τα σύνορα, βοηθούμενο και απο το μοναδικό video clip της περιόδου που γύρισαν για το “Desire To Desire” τον Ιανουάριο του 89. Με το επόμενο τους single “21st Century European Temptation” την ίδια χρονιά και το ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ τους “Code Of Obsession” του 1990, o ήχος τους διευρύνθηκε φλερτάροντας με την πρώιμη electronic body music και το electro. Το 1991 επιστρέφουν με ενα 12ιντσο, το “Warm Nights Driving On Wet Streets” που ηταν το πρώτο δείγμα του 2ου άλμπουμ τους “Radio Telescope Mysteries” ,οπου “πάντρευαν” synth pop και electro πειραματιζόμενοι με την τότε νέα τεχνολογία των samplers και sequencers. Το 1992 ο Βελιώτης αποχωρεί και ο Μαχαίρας συνεχίζει για άλλα τέσσερα χρόνια με τον Γιώργο Γερανιό που πήρε τη θέση του, για μια σειρά ζωντανών εμφανίσεων σε μη τακτά χρονικά διαστήματα, με τελευταία αυτή στο πρώτο Rockwave του 1996. Η επανασύνδεση των In Trance 95 με το αρχικό line up Μαχαίρας/Βελιώτης ήρθε τον Απρίλιο του 2010, χάρη στη πρόσκληση του πρώην μέλους των Depeche Mode, Alan Wilder, για να ανοίξουν τη συναυλία των Recoil στην Αθήνα. Σχεδόν ταυτόχρονα υπογράφουν στη Νεουρκέζικη εταιρεία Minimal Wave με την οποία η πρώτη τους κυκλοφορία είναι το άλμπουμ “Cities Of Steel And Neon” (MW029 Οκτώβριος 2011) που βασίζεται στα early tapes της πρώτης περιόδου του 1988 και 1989 που είναι και η πιο αντιπροσωπευτική του ήχου τους. Aκολούθησε η συμμετοχή τους στη δεύτερη συλλογή της σειράς Minimal Wave Tapes, με το "Presidente" τον Φεβρουάριο και ταυτόχρονα μιά σειρά απο live εμφανίσεις με πιό προσφατη στο Βερολίνο, λίγες εβδομάδες πριν. Στις 23 Ιουλίου, θα κυκλοφορησεi και η ολοκαίνουργια τους δουλειά "Shapes In A New Geometry" σε limited edition κασέτα και digital διαθέσιμη απο το site της Minimal Wave.
